Creating a theory of change

CLIENT: APPS FOR GOOD

Apps for Good is a national education charity empowering a new generation of innovators and inventors. The charity provides free resources to schools, so that young people can learn essential + digital skills by designing app prototypes that could change the world. We worked with Apps for Good to define the charity’s theory of change.

We worked with Apps for Good to create a new theory of change.

Telling the story of how Apps for Good empower young people to create a brighter future through technology.

The context

Apps for Good is an education charity that provides free tech innovation courses to schools, giving teachers ready-made education content, so that young people from all backgrounds - especially those young people experiencing disadvantage - can develop computing and essential skills to create a brighter future through technology.

Apps for Good don’t just teach young people to code - they teach young people the entrepreneurial skills they’ll need to become the tech innovators of tomorrow. Students learn how to build apps using processes that are aligned with industry, and Apps for Good then connect them to real-world professionals, including from Google and Spotify, to support their product ideas by providing industry feedback.

What we did

We worked with Apps for Good to define a new theory of change that clearly demonstrates the charity’s vision and mission, audiences, work, and short and long-term outcomes.

  • Mapping vision, mission, audiences, work, and short and long-term outcomes

  • Creating an accessible format to instantly communicate the charity’s work to its wide range of audiences, including schools, parents, corporate partners, policymakers and funders

The difference we made

“I’ve really enjoyed working with Really Good Things on our brand projects, including our Theory of Change. From my very first conversation with Sarah and the team, I felt an instant sense of alignment; their experience and deep understanding of the charity sector meant they immediately understood where we were coming from, and where we wanted to go. They guided us through the process with clarity and creativity, and helped us to create a Theory of Change we are very proud of.” Laura Andrews, Senior Marketing Manager, Apps for Good
